a majestic cathedral built in the 11th century to rival Constantinople's
catheferal is considered on the most hold places in the Ukraine.
The caves are used as burial grounds for the monks.

Flying to Kiev
Direct flights to Kiev are available from Gatwick with Ukraine International Airlines.
Prices for return tickets start at around £211. Similarly Lufthansa fly direct
from London City Airport to Kiev for around £255 return.
It is also possible to fly from Gatwick via Budapest or Prague with Malev Hungarian Airlines and Czech Airlines
repsectivley. Further, Lufthansa operate direct flights from Manchester Airport, for upwards of £270
for a return journey.

Accommodation in Kiev
Kiev accommodation is available to suit all tastes and budgets. At the top end ther is luxury hotels and
apartments such as the 5-star
Riviera on Podol and
Premier Palace Hotel, each costing in excess of £120 a night.
More reasonable hotels are the
Mir Hotel,
Hotel Slavutich and
Lybid Hotel, each costing from less than £50 a night.
Budget travellers will find a wide selection of hostels on the city.
Shared rooms in centrally located sites can cost less than £15. Examples include the International Youth Hostel Kiev,
costing £14 and Perova Apartment which costs aound £13 a night.
Things to do and places to go in Kiev
As well as the Rodina Mat statue and Saint Sophia Cathedral, tourists can visit the Museum of Russian Art or
the must-see Chernobyl Museum. Maidan Nezalezhnosti (Independence Square) is also popular with many visitors.
Kiev nightlife is sparse, but there are a few good bars and clubs. A favourite venue is the Avalon Entertainment Complex,
with a lounge bar at ground level, Ashur disco on the first floor, restaurant at second floor and casino on the third floor.
